Career

The New Reality of Careers

For many years, the word “career” referred to a linear path within the same organisation, in a journey marked by stability, loyalty and a predictable progression until retirement. Today, this concept no longer reflects the reality of work nor people’s aspirations.

Technological advances have created major disruptions in organisational structures and in the availability of formal employment. By the other hand, longer life expectancy means we now work for many more years. New values have emerged: we seek greater flexibility and balance between work and personal life; we want purpose, passion and meaningful contribution. All these transformations lead us to rethink how we design our careers and what we truly consider professional success.

Nowadays, parallel careers are increasingly common, as well as multiple career transitions at different stages of professional life – including later in life, at a moment when the very idea of “retirement” is losing its meaning. The traditional three-stage model (study, work, retire) is giving way to a more dynamic trajectory. Careers are no longer linear paths but multi-cyclical journeys, with alternating periods of work, study, pauses and new beginnings – often in different areas or activities.

In a world of constant change and longer lives, a career is no longer a destination, but an ongoing journey of growth, meaning and contribution.

My Role as a Career Mentor and Coach

It is from this new paradigm that I approach my work in career mentoring and coaching. I support people in creating conscious careers: trajectories aligned with their identity, values and the context in which they operate. I believe professional development is born from expanding awareness about who we are, what drives us and where we want to go.

It is important to highlight that, in both mentoring and career coaching, every professional is unique. What each one brings to the world is the integration of their life and work experience, the techniques and tools they have learned, and their personal style. Choosing the right professional requires care, ensuring the approach aligns with your needs and expectations.

I act as a partner to my clients, helping them move towards their goals  (but above all, supporting their evolutionary journey), always in alignment with their identity. We work together to recognise and strengthen their potential and trace the most coherent path towards their objectives.

My Professional Approach

I work as a coach, mentor, facilitator and trainer, in both individual processes and group settings (workshops and retreats). I take on each role with consciousness and professionalism, aligning expectations with my clients.

I use a variety of techniques and tools, according to what makes sense for the client and the process, that may include:

  • Profile and values assessments;
  • Projective methodologies (Points of You®);
  • Techinques based on jungian, cognitive-behavioural and systemic psychology;
  • Structured exercises for reflection and decision-making.

Each journey is designed and conducted according to the client’s necessities and style.

What to Expect from Me

  • A “low-profile”, discreet style;
  • Punctuality and commitment;
  • Presence and full attention during sessions;
  • Active, non-judgemental listening;
  • Confidentiality and ethics.

What NOT to Expect from Me

  • Ready-made solutions;
  • Decisions made on the client’s behalf.

I am a partner in the journey — but the client is the PROTAGONIST.

Expected Outcomes

Becoming more aware of who we are, of our real needs and motivations, helps us evolve and pursue happiness more consciously, aligning choices with our true essence. In this sense, a career transition process may bring benefits such as:

  • Expanding self-knowledge and understanding the professional identity;
  • Clarifying personal and professional goals;
  • Identificating strengths and areas for development;
  • Explorating possible paths to career transition and evolution;
  • Defining next steps in your journey with consciousness, motivation and purpose.

It is essential to understand that career transition processes are neither linear nor predictable. Each journey is unique, shaped by individuality, client’s willingness to reflect deeply, broaden perspectives, test possibilities, among other external factors.
